Ronald Castellanos, MD
Dr. Castellanos received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His surgical residency was completed at Brook General Hospital in Fort Sam Houston, Texas and his urology residency at the University of Cincinnati. Upon completion of his residencies, he extended his training through a Fellowship with the American Cancer Society. Dr. Castellanos is certified by the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Castellanos is the founding member of Southwest Florida Urologic Associates, where he has practiced for the past thirty years. He has a special interest in clinical research and is a past President of the Florida Urological Society. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Practicing Physicians Advisory Council to CMS and he currently serves as one of seventeen Commissioners on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) which advises Congress on Medicare issues.

William Evans, MD
William Evans, MD
Dr. Evans received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1976. He completed his internship and his residencies in surgery and in urology at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1981. Dr. Evans has been certified by the American Board of Urology since 1983. He is also affiliated with the American Urologic Association, Florida Urologic Society, Lee County Medical Society, and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
Past President of Lee County Medical Society, and Served on Executive Committees for both Lee Memorial Hospital and Cape Coral Hospital.
Dr. Evans’ areas of special interest within the field of urology include prostate cancer, male infertility, incontinence, and prosthetic surgery.

James Borden, MD
Dr. Borden received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. His surgical internship as well as his surgical and urological residencies were completed at the same institution. Dr. Borden has been certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also affiliated with Lee County Medical Society and the American Urological Association. Dr. Borden has served on the hospital Board at Southwest Regional Medical Center for fifteen years and is past and current President of the Medical Staff.
Dr. Borden’s areas of special interest are urologic oncology, kidney stone disease, and urinary incontinence.

Paul Bretton, MD
Dr. Bretton received his medical degree from the University of Florida. His surgical internship as well as his residencies in surgery and urology was completed at the Medical University of South Carolina. He continued his training through a Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Bretton is certified by the American Board of Urology. He was selected to Best Doctors in America 1996-2006.
Dr. Bretton’s area of special interest lies in urologic cancers.

Mark Mintz, MD
Dr. Mintz received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 1969. He completed his surgical residency at Cedar-Sinai medical Center in Los Angeles, California and his urology residency at Temple University Hospital/St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital with an emphasis in pediatric urology.
Dr. Mintz is certified by the American Board of Urology. His area of special interest lies in adult and pediatric urology. He is conversant in French, Spanish, German and Japanese.

Jasper Rizzo, DO
Dr. Rizzo received his degree from the University of medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Kennedy Memorial Hospital. His surgical internship as well as his surgical and urological residencies was also completed at the same institution.
He is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, Urology.
Dr. Rizzo’s areas of special interest lie in female urology, urinary incontinence and voiding dysfunction.

Michael Strickland, DO
Dr. Strickland is a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. His Urologic residency was completed at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, (UMDNJ). He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, the Lee County Medical Society, and the Lee County Osteopathic Society. He has served as a Specialty Board Proctor for the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery and an Associate Professor in the Department of Urology at UMDNJ Resident Training Program.
His areas of special interest in Urology are genitourinary oncologic surgery, urinary incontinence, urinary calculus disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia, impotence and general urology.

Omar Benitez, MD
Dr. Omar Benitez graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where he received his medical degree. Dr. Benitez completed his residency training at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida in 1999.
Dr. Benitez is recommended for his sound clinical judgment and provides comprehensive urological services both adult and pediatric patients. Special interests include pediatric urology, advanced laparoscopic skills, cryo ablation technology, minimally invasive treatment for prostate disorders, and minimally invasive surgery for prostate cancer.
Dr. Benitez is Board Certified, a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology, as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Andrew K. Weitzel, MD
Andrew K. Weitzel is board certified in Urology. He received his Bachelor of Biology degree from Central Michigan University where he was a member of the Theta Zeta Honor Society and Ski Team. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987 and served as the Class Representative. Andrew did his Internship and residency at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Trenton Michigan and his Urology residency at the University Of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr Weitzel moved to southwest Florida in 2006 to join Southwest Florida Urology Associates. He is the Chief of Surgery at Fawcett Medical Center in addition to serving on the Credentialing Committee as well as the Professional Review Committee. Dr Weitzel also serves as a member of the Medical Examiners Board “AOBS”.
Prior to moving to Florida, Dr Weitzel spent fourteen years in the New Jersey / Philadelphia area. He has a great deal of teaching experience and has several Publications to his credit.
Dr Weitzel has been at the forefront of introducing new and contemporary options for bladder-control problems. Many of these new treatments can be treated in the office without requiring a hospital visit.

Kenneth Bunning, DO
Kenneth Bunning is board certified in Urology. He received his Bachelor of Geology degree from Rutgers University. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia Collage of Osteopathic Medicine. Kenneth did his Urology and Surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – SOM, Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution.
Dr Bunning moved to Southwest Florida in 2007 to join Southwest Florida Urologic Associates where he has worked to introduce new and contemporary options for bladder-control problems. Many of these treatments can be treated in the office without requiring a hospital visit. He was awarded The American Osteopathic Association Certificate of Excellence in 2009 and an active member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association.
As a youth he had a passion for science and medicine and wanted to become a Doctor. After graduating from college he joined the Marine Corps where he spent the next 20 years defending our country as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps. The passion to become a doctor was still there and he retired from the Marine Corps in 1979 and enrolled in medical school, a decision that turned out to be a good one for all concerned.

Lee Ann Boyd, ARNP
Mrs. Boyd received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Florida and her Masters Degree as Nurse Practitioner from Florida International University.
Mrs. Boyd is certified by the ANCC Nationally Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and the CBUNA Urologic Nurse Practitioner.
Her areas of special interest are in patient education, prostate cancer, incontinence and interstitial cystitis. She has presented on a local and national basis for SUNA (Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates).

Don See, PA
Mr. See received his undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University. He earned his Physician’s Assistant Degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Mr. See is certified by the American Urologic Association and the Urologic Physician’s Assistant Association. His area of interest lies in urologic surgery.
